A well-known Evansville police officer has been arrested following a report of domestic violence.
Warrick County sheriff’s deputies arrested EPD Sgt. Karen Vaughn-Kajmowicz after authorities were called to her Chandler, Indiana home Tuesday night.
The 43-year-old Kajmowicz faces preliminary charges of strangulation and battery. She was released from jail after posting a $750 cash bond.
A mug shot from Warrick County shows her with a black eye.
Kajmowicz is a former public information officer with the Evansville Police Department and currently serves on the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Joint Drug Task Force.
She and her wife, Tammy Vaughn-Kajmowicz, were among plaintiffs in the federal court case that led to Indiana’s same-sex marriage ban being overturned.
