The Memorial Community Development Corporation has announced plans to build three new homes in Evansville’s Center City.
It’s part of an ongoing effort to build 50 affordable and energy-efficient homes in the near-downtown area.
The Reverend Adrian Brooks says two will be built on Washington Avenue and another on South Elliott. He says they’ll be worth $140,000 to $150,000.
But Brooks says income-eligible persons can acquire the homes for $80,000 to $90,000.
He says so far, eleven houses have been built in the 50-home initiative.
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says the city will provide $500,000 in unused federal money to develop the three new homes.
