Gibson County is trying to attract 160 jobs through a Toyota supplier.
Princeton-based Toyota Boshoku and Illinois-based Automotive Technology Systems are vying for a contract to build parts for the Toyota Highlander.
Toyota Boshoku already makes seats, door trim, and interior components for Toyota. It currently employs 900 workers. The new contract is expected to create 160 jobs.
Next month, Gibson County Commissioners will vote on a proposal approved by the county redevelopment commission that calls for the use of $1.7 million in Tax Increment Financing, and an estimated $450,000 for a road extension.
Todd Mosby of the Gibson County Economic Development Corporation tells Inside Indiana Business that the deal is a year in the making and initially included sites in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
Mosby says the wages would be between $13 and $17 per hour, plus benefits.
