Heat Advisory Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Tri-State this weekend.

The advisory is in effect from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until 8:00 Sunday evening.

Forecasters at Paducah say afternoon temperatures in the mid-90’s combined with oppressive humidity will produce heat index values of 105-to-110.

A heat index of 105 is generally considered the threshold where the body begins to succumb to the effects of the heat, requiring precautions to prevent heat exhaustion and the more severe heat stroke.

Precautions include rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities for early morning and evening, wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing, and drinking plenty of water.

The heat is expected to be followed by thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday.
