Henderson welcomes visitors with bird banners

Officials are hanging "welcome" banners in Downtown Henderson.

The new banners display birds from John James Audubon’s book “Birds of America.”

Audubon lived in the Henderson area in the early 1800’s.

Beth Strawn is Executive Director of the Downtown Henderson Partnership. She tells WNIN News that some banners have been erected downtown, but many more are available. She says businesses can purchase a banner with their business name on it for $100.

She says the banners were made locally, and that Audubon’s birds are “unique to Henderson.”
