Handy Fest hoping for blue skies

The mayor of Henderson is hoping Mother Nature cooperates with this weekend’s W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival.

Mayor Steve Austin tells WNIN News that in the event of rain, performances will be moved to indoor locations, including South Junior High School and Rookies’ Party Room.

He says officials will announce any changes well in advance.

Austin spoke in Audubon Mill Park on the banks of the Ohio River, as workers set-up equipment for the event.

WNIN FM will broadcast live from the festival starting with Zydeco Night on Thursday.

Austin says Thursday night is the most important night in terms of revenue. He says it makes the rest of the festival possible.
