Mead Johnson donates $100,000 to parks

The Mead Johnson Foundation is celebrating the company’s 100th anniversary by donating $100,000 to install new playground equipment in four Evansville parks.

The money will be used for equipment geared toward young children at Garvin, Akin, Fulton, and 11th Avenue parks.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke thanked Mead Johnson for the donation, which he said would help parks that need updated equipment.

Mead Johnson Senior Vice President Jeff Jobe says the company wants to give back to the community as part of its 100th anniversary, and he says more "surprises" are planned.

Evansville Parks Director Denise Johnson says the playground equipment has been ordered and should be installed by mid-August.
