The superintendent of Evansville’s public schools focused on “transforming education” in his annual State of Our Schools address.
EVSC Superintendent David Smith touted programs like early college, in which high school students earn college credits. He noted eight local students received a certification from Ivy Tech a week before graduating high school.
Smith also told Evansville Rotarians that the school corporation extended the elementary school day, which was among the shortest in Indiana. He says it will result in six months more education for students from kindergarten through 5th grade.
Smith touted many success stories, but also stressed the importance of serving all students.
