A Mexican restaurant is coming to Downtown Evansville, after all.
Tropicana Evansville says in a news release that Chido Mexican Bar & Grill will open this summer in the space formerly occupied by the Sports Book between RiRa’s and Boogie Nights.
Tropicana says the island-themed restaurant will play music and stream surf videos on screens throughout the eatery.
The news comes just days after word that the winner of the Southwest Indiana Chamber’s Main Course Restaurant Challenge dropped its plan to develop a Mexican restaurant at a former jewelry store at 4th and Main streets.
The Chamber decided to donate the incentive prize to Indiana Landmarks in an effort to attract a qualified developer who can open a restaurant in the old Greyhound Bus Station.
Indiana Landmarks owns the station, where a renovation project continues.
