Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment -- or CAJE -- is holding its annual Nehemiah Action Monday evening.
The group is asking local leaders to make "positive changes" such as a jail diversion program for persons with mental health conditions, creation of affordable housing, and equipping law enforcement with Narcan.
The drug can save a person who has overdosed.
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and members of the Evansville City Council, Vanderburgh County Commission, County Council, and local law enforcement are expected to attend.
Sign-up starts at 6:00 p.m. Monday, with the event beginning at 6:30 at Old National Events Plaza, formerly The Centre in downtown Evansville.
