Indiana House Republicans have included the IU Med School in their budget proposal. But the House Ways and Means Committee earmarked less than what the participating schools want.
The House budget allows for bonding up to $36 million -- not the $50 million the schools were asking for. But it is a boost compared to the $19 million proposed by Governor Pence.
House Republicans will vote their budget out of committee this week and out of the full House next week. That's when the budget -- and the med school project planned for Downtown Evansville -- shifts to the Indiana Senate.
