Bucshon hears about flu, calls for vaccinations

Congressman Larry Bucshon has taken part in his first hearing as a member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The hearing addressed the nation’s readiness and response to the flu.

Bucshon is a physician from Newburgh and he started his questioning with a call for all parents to get their children immunized.

Bucshon also asked Dr. Karen Midthun of the FDA whether the government is doing enough to battle flu outbreaks. She responded that in 2003, the U.S. had three licensed influenza vaccines. It now has 16.

Bucshon will be the guest on this weekend’s WNIN Lawmakers program on 9.1, Friday night at 10:30 and Sunday morning at 11:00.
