Search continues for shootout suspect

Evansville police are still searching for the man accused of killing another man in a shootout.

Police were called to the Marathon gas station at Kentucky and Walnut early Saturday, where shots were being fired.

Police say they found 25-year-0ld Decedric Williams critically wounded in an alley. He died two hours later at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Witnesses told police that Williams and 28-year-old Demeko Bradley exchanged gunfire outside the station.

After he was shot, Williams ran from the station and collapsed in the alley. Police are still searching for Bradley, who was seen running away from the scene.

The Evansville Courier and Press reports a prayer vigil was held at the shooting site Sunday, where the Reverend Adrian Brooks called for an end to violence.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office says Williams was shot several times and died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
