Ferguson march set for EVV

Church leaders are planning a march in Evansville in response to events in Ferguson, Missouri.

Revs. Adrian Brooks and Rabon Turner, Center City church leaders, and members of the group Concerned Clergy of Evansville have planned the march for Sunday afternoon.

It will start at 2:30 at Memorial Baptist Church and end on the front steps of the Civic Center with a spoken message and prayer.

Brooks stresses to the Courier and Press that the gathering will be peaceful.

The grand jury decision not to indict a white Ferguson police officer in the fatal shooting of a young unarmed African-American has sparked violence in the St. Louis suburb and demonstrations across the U.S.

The local march will be much like the one organized following the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin in Florida.
