A colleague of Vanderburgh County Commissioner Stephen Melcher is asking for prayers, as Melcher is treated in the intensive care unit of Deaconess Hospital.
The 65-year-old Melcher was hospitalized after an apparent medical episode Sunday afternoon.
Republican Marsha Abell tells the Evansville Courier and Press that Melcher is “a really nice person” with a “good heart,” and she’s asking for prayers from the community.
Melcher, a Democrat, has served on both the County Commission and Evansville City Council.
He’s now running for the Statehouse, facing Republican Holli Sullivan for the Indiana House District 78 seat she’s held since January.
