The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility has issued a boil advisory for a large portion of the West Side.
A water main break prompted the utility to issue the advisory in an area bounded by the Lloyd Expressway on the north, Lemcke on the east, Ray Becker on the south, and Barker on the west. The advisory also includes all water customers west of Tekoppel and east of Schutte Road, plus the area south of the Lloyd to the Ohio River.
The advisory includes Reitz, Perry Heights, West Terrace, and Corpus Christi schools. It does not include USI.
Water customers in the advisory zone are urged to boil tap water for at least five minutes before using it for cooking or drinking. The advisory will be lifted when tests confirm the water is safe.
