One southwestern Indiana community is celebrating and another is disappointed following an announcement at the State Fair.
Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann has announced that Huntingburg has been designated as a Stellar Community.
The Dubois County town submitted a detailed strategic investment plan to the Stellar Committee in June, and hosted a site visit and tour in July.
Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner says in a news release "We are honored to be designated as a Stellar Community by the State of Indiana." He says the plan officials put together is “something that will benefit Huntingburg for years to come.”
Ellspermann also announced that the town of Wabash won the designation, but Mt. Vernon was among four communities that didn’t receive it, and the state economic development money that goes with it.
