Mayor Lloyd Winnecke has appointed a new head of the Evansville EPA.
The mayor has named Jacob Keating to the post, removing the “interim” title that Keating has held since he took charge of the agency last month.
Keating has served as a senior air inspector at the local EPA since April 2013.
A news release from Winnecke’s office says Keating is an Evansville native and graduate of Bosse High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University in 2003. Keating earned a master’s degree in public affairs from IU with a concentration in sustainable development in 2010.
Keating says he will be an “advocate for the community” and work “diligently to protect air quality in Evansville.” He says his goal is to get the agency “more involved in the community through education and accessibility.”
