Evansville officials are asking for your input as the parks department develops a new five-year plan.
A news release from the city indicates the plan will outline development for the Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as a review of the agency that oversees 2,300 acres and dozens of programs.
Executive Director Denise Johnson tells the Courier and Press the plan will review how the department functions from “programming to facilities, to staff, to budget” and to “city ordinances.”
Johnson says if the plan is approved by the state, the parks department will be eligible for federal funding, something it hasn’t enjoyed since 2009.
The consulting firm Alta + Design is developing the plan and administering the surveys. A link to an online survey is available at evansville.in.gov
Alta consultants will also seek input at events like National Night Out at Wesselman Park August 5th and the Traveling City Hall meeting at Good Shepherd Catholic Church September 24th.
