Dozens of union workers have been picketing outside the EVSC administration building.
More than 75 members of Teamsters Local 215 carried signs Monday evening that read “Stop the War on Workers.” They picketed outside as the Evansville Vanderburgh School Board conducted a meeting inside.
Lisa Wigand has been a bus driver for the EVSC for 15 years. She tells the Evansville Courier and Press that the workers deserve respect.
Teamsters rejected what the school board called its “final offer” last month. It included a 2-percent raise after factoring in the cost of an additional two months of health insurance coverage for employees who requested to stay on the current plan.
The Teamsters represent bus drivers, bus aides, custodians, special education assistants, and secretaries in the EVSC.
