Walmart planning new North Side store

Walmart plans to build a new Supercenter in northern Vanderburgh County.

The Evansville Courier and Press reports Walmart Real Estate Business Trust has applied for a zoning variance to build on 31 acres at Boonville-New Harmony Road and State Road 57, just west of I-1-64.

The application shows the store would include a gas station, four “outlots,” more than 750 parking spaces, and nearly 187,000 square feet of floor space.

The Walmart application will go before the Board of Zoning Appeals next Thursday afternoon at 4:00 in Room 301 of the Civic Center.

The world’s biggest retailer already operates two supercenters and a neighborhood market in Evansville.
