Jungle's alcohol license extended just one year

The Alcoholic Beverage Commission has issued a shorter-than-usual license extension to a well-known restaurant and bar in downtown Evansville.

The commission extended the Jungle’s alcohol license, but only for one year instead of the usual two.

Commission members cited recent problems at the business, including an early morning fight in April in which at least three people were injured.

In January, the Jungle was cited for a violation of alcohol serving laws.

Owner Levon Osipyan told the commission he’s committed to running a good business. He told the Courier and Press that he has to be “more careful,” and that he “can’t blame anybody” but himself.

The Jungle will have to apply for its next license renewal in 2015.
