Indiana Reports More Than 4,000 New Cases, Sets 10th New Record Since Moving To Stage 5

Indiana broke another new record for daily reported cases of COVID-19, with 4,462 reported Thursday. The state has had more than 2,000 cases every day since Oct. 22.

It's the 10th such record the state has set since moving to Stage 5 at the end of September and the third in just the last seven days.

The state’s seven-day average for cases has increased by nearly 300 percent. In that same time period, 31 counties have more than doubled their number of reported cases. Fountain, Parke and Warren counties have more than tripled their total number of COVID-19 cases.

There are currently 1,948 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus – the highest number since the Indiana State Department of Health began releasing that data.

In the last week, ISDH has reported more than 23,000 new cases and 245 new confirmed deaths.

During his weekly press conference Wednesday, Gov. Eric Holcomb repeated that he doesn’t believe reimposing statewide COVID-19 restrictions will effectively curb the virus’s spread.
