Indiana Reports More Than 2,000 Cases Friday, 101 Percent Increase Since Starting Stage 5

Indiana set a new grim record for daily reported cases of COVID-19, with more than 2,300 cases reported Friday. The state has had more than 1,000 new cases per day since Oct. 7.

There is a caveat for the state’s 2,328 new cases – approximately 300 were delayed due to a technical error. But technical error aside, it’s still yet another record-breaking milestone in the state’s COVID-19 response.

The seven-day average of people hospitalized with COVID-19 has now increased every day for 24 straight days – in that time, the average has increased by 65 percent.

The Indiana State Department of Health has reported 170 new deaths and more than 16,500 new cases in the last 10 days. Since moving to Stage 5, the state’s rolling average for cases has increased by 101 percent.
