High school students got a chance to explore career options at Area 31 Career Center at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis Friday. Dozens of industry representatives set up booths to attract students to learn more about their trade.
Students from 11 school districts attended the annual Partnership Day at Area 31 Career Center to meet representatives from companies, trade groups, technical colleges and the military.
Patrick Biggerstaff is the director of career and technical education at the career center. He says the ultimate goal is to help students network with career representatives.
“Today certainly there are food trucks, there are games, it’s a festival type of environment,” he says. “But it’s also a great opportunity for students to build relationships with industry professionals as well.”
Biggerstaff added it’s also a celebration of the community partnerships the career center has. It serves about 1,500 students from Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties.
