DCS Associate Director Todd Meyer Abruptly Resigns

A top Department of Child Services official brought in specifically to help shape up the embattled agency has resigned.

Associate Director Todd Meyer abruptly stepped down after just one year on the job.

DCS created a new position – associate director – when it recruited Todd Meyer from his post as a county prosecutor. He was assigned to meet recommendations that came from an independent evaluation of DCS.

Particularly, Meyer helped lead an overhaul of the agency’s legal team – he hired more attorneys and bolstered training.

Now, he’s left the agency, and neither the Holcomb administration or DCS will say why. Meyer spoke with Indiana Public Broadcasting just two weeks ago about progress at DCS.

“Things are never done," Meyer said. "It is always going to be a process of continual quality improvement.”

Meyer’s resignation was effective Tuesday.
