Several Midwest States Give Stay-Home Orders. Coronavirus News Monday, March 23

The governors of llinois and Ohio ordered residents to stay home to halt the spread of coronavirus. It remains to be seen if other Midwest states will follow suit amid the growing pandemic. On Monday, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also announced a stay-at-home orders.

Here’s the latest from the region: 

Indiana: 

Illinois: 

  • The governor called a mandatory stay-at-home order for residents, joining New York, California and Ohio in similar measures.
  • There have been five deaths, and over 500 cases of the virus. 

Ohio: 

Missouri: 

  • There are over 100 cases of the virus statewide.
  • MU Health relaxed testing guidelines to allow doctors to order a test for anyone with symptoms. 

Iowa: 

  • The number of confirmed cases in Iowa approaches 100. 
  • University of Iowa Health is urgently requesting donations of new or used protective face shields.
