Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke didn’t have to look too far to find a permanent Executive Director for the Department of Metropolitan Development. The mayor announced this morning (Monday) that interim director Kelly Coures will be the new Executive Director.
In making the appointment, Mayor Winnecke noted Coures’ work with various community groups, as well as his background in finance. Coures has been at the DMD for the past two years, after working for over thirty years with American General Finance.
A release from the mayor’s office says that in his initial role with the DMD, Coures worked to improve the city’s alignment with U.S. Housing and Urban Development policy. He also sought to expand programs to include assistance to local businesses, when possible through long dormant loan funds.
As the Executive Director of DMD, Coures will play a key role in the development of the Indiana University School of Medicine expansion in Downtown Evansville and the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel and convention complex.
