Former State Rep Denbo dies

A former Indiana legislator who spearheaded the French Lick casino project has died.

Inside Indiana Business reports that Jerry Denbo has passed away. The Democrat served in the Statehouse from 1990-2007, representing all of Orange County and parts of Greene, Lawrence, Martin and Washington counties.

Denbo played a big part in pushing for a casino in French Lick. The venue was approved in 2003 and the casino – dubbed “the boat in the moat” -- opened in 2006.

The Times-Mail in Bedford says Denbo died in his sleep. He was 63. There’s no word on the cause of death.
