You have an opportunity to meet and question candidates in Evansville this weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
The NAACP’s Evansville Branch and the League of Women Voters of Southwestern Indiana are sponsoring the Meet Your Candidates Forum on Saturday.
It will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. John's East United Church of Christ, at 7000 Lincoln Avenue.
The groups say all local and state candidates whose names will appear on the ballot have been invited to participate.
They say invitations have also been extended to the Democratic Party Chair, Republican Party Chair, and U.S. Representative Mark Messmer.
The free event will include a brief introduction from each participating candidate, a moderated question-and-answer session, and opportunities for networking with candidates and community members.
Event organizer Annette Ussery says the forum will offer voters “a valuable opportunity to meet the candidates, ask questions, and become better informed before casting their ballots.”
Ussery says an informed electorate is the foundation of a strong democracy.
