Unofficial General Election results have yielded an upset for Vanderburgh County Democrats — husband and father of five Jason Jett, has unseated a longtime Republican County County Council Member

Democrat Jason Jett’s victory means there are now two Democrats on the seven-member fiscal body. He joins Nick Iaccorino who ran unopposed this election.

Jett will replace John Monstrestelle who has been on the Council for 11 years.

Jett is a lifelong Evansville resident and career small business operator and financial advisor, and he said he's excited to get started.

“I'm excited about the process. I'm excited about learning about what County Council can do. As far as my goal … my goal has always been making Vanderburgh a great place to live.”

He’d like to attract and retain young talent to the county.

Through the race, he’s grateful for the support of his wife and five children.

“They have been very, very understanding. I have put a lot of strain on my wife as a result of this race, and I am just eternally grateful to her.”

At this time, this is the only locally flipped seat for a Democrat at the County level or above. WNIN will release additional election stories this week.
