The city of Evansville will conduct the first of two town hall meetings on public safety on Wednesday (Oct. 14)

The Evansville Police Department is touting results of a survey ahead of a town hall on public safety. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The EPD says results from the 2026 Community Survey showed residents’ overall sense of safety increased nearly six percentage points over last year.

The survey showed most residents feel safe in their neighborhoods, trust their police officers, and feel comfortable seeking police support.

Now, the city of Evansville is inviting residents to a two-part Community Public Safety Town Hall, with the first session planned for Wednesday.

It’s from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Dream Center at N. Main St. and Morgan Avenue.

The second town hall will take place October 29th at Zion Missionary Baptist Church on S. Governor St.

Both events will include breakout discussions where residents can share concerns, ideas and successes, as well as identify opportunities for improvement.

The town halls will feature guest speakers including EPD Chief Phil Smith, Prosecutor Diana Moers, Magistrate Judge Celia Pauli, Sheriff Noah Robinson, and Judge Gary Schutte.
