An estimated 200-thousand people are expected to converge on Evansville’s West Side this week. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is underway on W. Franklin St.
The club calls it the biggest street festival in the U.S.
It’s certainly a major fundraiser for area non-profits who raise money at more than 135 food booths set-up along Franklin Street.
In addition to the wide variety of food, festival goers will find parades, carnival rides, live music, contests, and tickets for a huge half-pot drawing.
Last year’s half-pot topped two-point-six-million dollars, with half of it going to a lucky winner and the rest to a number of non-profit agencies.
The Nut Club is touting a new app for this year’s fest which includes the Munchie Map and festival layout.
Monday night’s events include the annual Lighthouse Parade at 7 p.m. and the first amateur hour at 8 p.m.
The festival runs through Saturday on Franklin St. between Wabash and St. Joe avenues.
