The southbound Twin Bridge remains down to one lane as a precaution after inspectors found a damaged support beam. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assures drivers the bridge is structurally sound and safe to carry traffic.
Officials note the span was constructed with redundancy in its support system to ensure several parts work together to carry the weight.
The cabinet says an engineering analysis found the damaged beam can be safely repaired and the repair work is expected to take about a month to complete.
Officials say they’re working on a plan to have two lanes of traffic open in each direction during the repairs.
