The ORSANCO Ohio River Sweep starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on Evansville's riverfront

You’re invited to help make the Ohio River litter-free. WNIN’s John Gibson explains:

The annual ORSANCO Ohio River Sweep is set for this Saturday on the Evansville riverfront.

The Water and Sewer Utility asks volunteers to come prepared to “get dirty.”

The agency recommends closed-toe shoes or boots.

Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

The cleanup starts at 8:30 Saturday morning at the Sunrise Pump Station.

The Cincinnati-based Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission – known commonly as ORSANCO -- has been around since 1948.

It’s been organizing the Ohio River Sweep along the entire 981-mile river since 1989.
