The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says local farmers will be moving farm implements and other agricultural machinery along roadways.
Sheriff Noah Robinson notes machinery that travels under 25 miles-an-hour must display a slow-moving vehicle emblem – and drivers should watch for the reddish triangle.
Robinson says crashes can occur when a driver fails to recognize that the machinery they are approaching is moving slower than normal traffic.
The risk of making this miscalculation only increases at night.
Robinson says don’t attempt to pass slow-moving farm equipment unless it is safe and legal.
Meanwhile, October and November are the breeding season for white-tailed deer and they start crossing roadways more frequently.
Vanderburgh County recorded 89 deer-related crashes last year, five resulting in human injury.
