The city of Evansville has partnered with Deaconess Health System to support the city’s new ambulance service. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Mayor Stephanie Terry says the multi-year partnership includes training support for firefighters, paramedics and EMTs;
strengthening coordination between EMS and hospital-based care; and technology investments designed to improve responder safety and patient outcomes.
Among the first initiatives is the accelerated rollout of a station alerting system that routes emergency calls only to the responding station.
Terry says that will reduce overnight sleep disruptions for first responders.
The deal also calls on Deaconess to invest several hundred thousand dollars a year.
The mayor says the investment will accelerate repayment to the Casino Capital Improvement Fund which was used to transfer EMS from AMR to the city’s fire department.
