If you’re hitting the road this Labor Day weekend, police agencies have some advice. WNIN’s John Gibson tells us more:
Indiana State Police say troopers across the Evansville District will be out this weekend working to keep the highways safe.
If you’re traveling, the ISP says buckle up, slow down, put the phone away, and never drive impaired.
Area police agencies are taking part in the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
Officers are working overtime through Labor Day to identify and stop drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Evansville Police Sgt. Nick Winsett says the department is asking every driver to make responsible decisions.
He says a sober ride isn’t just the safest option it’s “the choice that saves lives.”
Preliminary data shows nearly 23-percent of Indiana’s traffic fatalities last year involved alcohol, and more than 41-percent involved drug impairment.
