Officials are recommending carbon monoxide detectors after five people became ill inside an Evansville home. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The Evansville Fire Department responded to the home late Monday night in the 700 block of S. Norman Avenue, where two people were reported sick and vomiting.
The EFD says the call quickly escalated when one patient became unresponsive.
When crews entered the residence, carbon monoxide detectors in their cardiac monitors immediately went off, registering extremely dangerous levels.
They say two people were unresponsive, and a total of five people were evaluated for C.O. exposure, and all survived.
The EFD says it’s important to have working carbon monoxide detectors indoors.
The colorless, odorless, gas can build up due to leaking or improperly ventilated fuel-burning appliances.
