The southbound Twin Bridge is expected to remain down to one lane through next week, after inspectors found a structural issue. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Crews continue to make temporary repairs to the southbound span, requiring the closure of the left lane.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the work should be finished by the end of next week, reopening both lanes.
In the meantime, the trip from Evansville to Henderson remains slow especially during peak drive times.
Officials also stress that the repairs are temporary and crews will return in November for permanent repairs.
They say crews will work at night to limit daytime traffic disruptions.
Meanwhile, work continues on a new I-69 bridge between Evansville and Henderson.
It’s expected to open in 2031.
