The search continues for a missing person in the Ohio River near Mt. Vernon. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Authorities on Saturday received word of someone floating down the river holding onto a log.
First responders found a juvenile holding onto a piece of driftwood and then found another juvenile nearby also holding onto to driftwood.
Black Township crews rescued both of them but learned they had been in a boat with a family member.
At some point, the boat experienced mechanical problems, became disabled, and overturned, sending all three into the water.
The third individual remains missing, and search operations continue.
Black Township Fire and Rescue says its thoughts and prayers are with the missing individual, the family, the two juveniles involved, and everyone affected by the tragic incident.
Crews also thank the community and local businesses for donations of food, drinks, and other supplies during the search.
