A large industrial site in Posey County has earned a national designation declaring it ready for development and investment. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Ports of Indiana and the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership – or E-REP -- announced that the 544-acre Mount Vernon megamodal site has earned a Silver designation through “REDI Sites.”
It’s described as the Site Selectors Guild’s first-in-the-nation site readiness program.
Situated within the Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon, the site offers size and infrastructure, as well as barge, rail, and highway access.
Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock says “few sites in the country can match what Mount Vernon offers.”
E-REP President and CEO Lloyd Winnecke says “speed is an incentive” and with the site in Mt. Vernon it’s “the one we can control.”
He notes the Ohio River has powered commerce in the area for two centuries, and the site in Mt. Vernon can “move at the pace a project requires.”
