The Tri-State faces even more heat and humidity through the weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The National Weather Service has upgraded its Heat Advisory to an Extreme Heat Warning for the Evansville area.
It’s in effect through Sunday.
Forecasters warn of dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90’s and the heat index reaching 115 degrees.
The weather service says the current heat wave looks to be the longest of the summer.
A break in the extreme heat is expected by Tuesday, but forecasters say it may be short-lived.
Experts continue to warn all of us to stay hydrated, stay out of the sun, take advantage of air conditioning as much as possible, and check on family members and neighbors.

Severe storms – including a possible tornado -- rolled the Tri-State Wednesday afternoon.
Indiana State Police say a twister hit Winslow, downing trees and power lines, particularly on side streets.
Several homes and other structures were damaged.
No injuries have been reported.
