Two people are displaced after a house fire early today (Wed) on Evansville’s West Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Central Dispatch received multiple calls around 3:15 a.m. about smoke and fire coming from a home in the 3200 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue.
Evansville firefighters responded and found a carport and a camper heavily involved in flames, spreading to the attic of the house.
The EFD says crews encountered challenging conditions inside the home while conducting searches and a portion of the home's east side collapsed.
The department says firefighters worked aggressively to contain the fire and bring it under control in about 40 minutes.
No injuries were reported to occupants or firefighters.
One pet dog was not located.
The American Red Cross was called to help two displaced adults.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
