Evansville Animal Care and Control has temporarily closed following the deaths of three dogs. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Officials say the shelter has closed as a precaution while they work with veterinary professionals about the recent canine deaths.
They say testing and enhanced cleaning are underway, and no cause has been confirmed.

Essential animal-control and emergency-response services remain available.
Director Missy Mosby says this past week has been heartbreaking and her team is “doing everything possible to determine what is happening” to protect the shelter’s animals.
Steps include revaccinating dogs as recommended by the shelter’s veterinary team, treating animals based on their symptoms and veterinary guidance, and thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting every kennel.
