Officials say school zone flashers are being activated one week before each school's start date.
The city of Evansville says activating the flashers early allows technicians to identify and resolve any system issues before classes begin.
Another goal is to remind drivers that back-to-school season is here, and to be ready for the return of students, buses, and reduced speed limits in school zones.
Among schools starting classes in the coming days are Evansville Catholic schools, as well as Warrick and Posey county public schools
Classes begin in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation August 10th.
