Former staff members at Oakland City University have finally received some pay. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Employees of the cash-strapped university received paychecks Friday that were nearly three months late.
The checks cover the May 8th payroll.
There’s no word on when other outstanding paychecks might be delivered.
The university laid-off staff, suspended its undergraduate program, and stopped paying employees in May.
OCU repeatedly promised to pay the former staff but payments were repeatedly delayed.
Several staff members have filed lawsuits against the school to receive wages they are owed, as well as money for expenses and attorney fees.
The university has said it plans to resume undergraduate operations in the 2027–28 academic year.
