Firefighters battled smoke and flames in stifling heat and humidity at the a house fire in Ft. Branch. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Crews were dispatched to the blaze in the 700 block of S. Center St. at about 11:40 Tuesday morning.
They found smoke and fire coming from the house.

Numerous fire departments were requested for “mutual aid” as crews tried to keep the blaze from spreading.
There was no word of injuries as firefighters battled the blaze in sweltering heat.
Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven says the county’s Emergency Management Agency provided water, ice, and coolers.
The Red Cross and CenterPoint Energy were also called to the scene.
There’s no word yet on how the fire started.
