The city of Evansville is boosting its effort to get more children reading at their grade level. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Mayor Stephanie Terry says the city’s We Read initiative has partnered with EVSC Community Engagement and the Evansville Public Library for the free Science of Reading series:
"Led by EVSC literacy experts, the sessions will help parents and caregivers better understand how children learn to read. You'll learn about phonics, decoding, comprehension, and simple ways to support reading at home."

The goal of the city’s We Read program is to have at least 95-percent of Evansville children reading at their grade level by 2027.
