County fair season continues in the Tri-State and as WNIN’s John Gibson reports, Vanderburgh County’s fair starts on Monday:
The Sheriff’s Office says 45-thousand people are expected to attend this year’s fest at the 4-H Center, off Boonville-New Harmony Road.
The fair features music, rides, races, pageants, contests, exhibits, food, and more.
The Sheriff’s tent will again be set-up near the fairground’s main office and will feature the “Seatbelt Convincer.”
It’s described as a ride that simulates a 5-to-10 mile-an-hour crash, where riders can experience firsthand the effectiveness of a seatbelt in preventing injury.
Sheriff Noah Robinson also urges fairgoers to watch your speed as you drive in the parking areas and watch for pedestrians and children that may dart unexpectedly from a row of cars.
The Sheriff also urges fairgoers to remember that farm machinery and livestock can be dangerous and that everyone should stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight for extended periods.
Among items not allowed on the fairgrounds: firearms, fireworks, laser pointers, skateboards, glass containers, and animals not registered for the event – except for service animals.
